What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?
As a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist working today I’m drawing on a long and evolving tradition of psychotherapy and hypnosis. The therapy has a strong basis in Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and I also incorporate techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and of course Hypnosis. This gives you a modern, gentle and forward looking approach. We will be working together to enable you to move into the future, developing solutions to leave behind the problems and behaviours that are no longer helpful to you.
We will spend time in our sessions helping you to identify changes you would like to experience. I will help you to identify positive, forward looking approaches and uncover forgotten strengths as you work towards a brighter future, an amazing future. My focus is on you, and how you can over come difficulties in a way that feels right to you.
What is Hypnosis?
Have you ever come back from a walk and noticed you can think more clearly? How about on a long drive when you finally crack a knotty problem that’s been bothering you? Do you make sure you regularly read or garden or walk because it helps you feel calmer and more balanced?
Yes? Then you’ve been in trance.
One of the many tools we have at our disposal in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is that of hypnosis or trance. In this very relaxed state you give your mind chance to bring together the conscious and sub-conscious elements. This unlocks your brain’s natural ability to work through the thoughts and emotions buzzing around and move forward with more clarity, focus and positivity. During this relaxed time you gain new insights and understanding, a fresh perspective on events. You will be able to identify and implement solutions that take you steadily and easily towards your goals.
How will hypnosis happen?
In our sessions you will experience a deepened state of relaxation, comfortably resting on a couch or in a comfy chair resting wamly under a blanket. You will remain in full control throughout and whilst your mind can drift you won’t fall asleep. During hypnosis you will be relaxed and focused, but I am not able to ‘make’ you do anything you don’t want to do or that is incompatible with your values. At the end of the deep relaxation you will feel refreshed, able to move on with the day with a feeling of calm and positivity.
There isn't a right or wrong way to experience hypnosis. Some clients are initially concerned that they have to be able to be perfectly still or 'empty their mind'. We have plenty of time in our sessions for me to reassure and guide you to enable you to gain maximum benefit from this element of therapy.
Are the sessions in confidence?
Absolutely. I take the privacy of my clients seriously and anything we discuss is confidential. You don't even have to let anyone know you are having sessions unless that feels right to you. If you have any concerns regarding this we can discuss it in more detail during your Initial Consultation.
It is also worth mentioning that I am not here to judge you so you may speak freely and in confidence. You may be relieved to know however, that our focus will be on looking forward, enabling a different future. It won't be necessary to hold long and indepth discussions of past events to achieve this.
